Austin B Cook is the Founder and CEO of Anchored Security. He has over 20 years of experience in the safety and security field. In 1994, Mr. Cook attended Atlantic Union College where he completed a degree in Psychology. He later attended Central State University and furthered his education with a degree in Criminal Justice. Mr. Cook is also a member of ASIS International and is certified Associate Protection Professional.
His professional career started in 1999 working for the NYS Department of Juvenile Justice(OCFS). In 2003, he became a NYS Certified Trainer in Crisis Management and Physical/Mechanical Restraints. In 2007, he became a Training Coordinator, responsible for the implementation of training in 4 facilities. Mr. Cook left OCFS in 2012, to become a Senior Crisis Intervention Counselor for Rondout Valley Central School District. There became a NYS Certified Trainer in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention in 2013, through Cornell University. In this current position, he is responsible for the training of school district employees, immediate support to the 15:1 and 12:1:1 classroom teachers, and the safety, security, and supervision of the students and staff in his building. He is part of the safety team and also part of the team that schedules and provides the school district with trainings in emotional competence, de-escalation, self protection, and physical intervention techniques. His insight led to several safety protocol and procedure enhancements for the district.
In 2014, Mr. Cook began to also work as a Private Security Professional. This allowed him the opportunity to work in several fields of security (such as 1 on 1, armed and unarmed, physical, personnel, indoor and outdoor events). In January of 2016, Mr. Cook started this company. Under his leadership it has become one of the most reputable private security companies in the area, with over 65 employees, 1 venues, multiple festivals, and several collaborations with local companies.
